A Note For Grown-Up Kids

This book has an extraordinarily long title.

And a very whimsical cover.

So, what’s it all about?

To an early-middle grade reader, Jenny Figment is a book about a kid, much like them, who imagines magical creatures, places, and adventures in her plain little town. Oh, and there are ghosts (the friendly kind that are NOT loud, or scary, and have important jobs to do).

But to a parent or educator, there needs to be more, right? We want to know that the books our kiddos pick up are full of positive messages and life lessons.

I started writing this story when my now 19 year old daughter was around the same age as our heroine. And the message was as clear to me then as it is today. In the most un-extraordinary terms:

USE YOUR IMAGINATION!

When life hands us challenges, a little imagination can go a long way. When Jenny Figment’s little town is faced with a big problem, Jenny uses her extraordinary imagination to think of ways to help. THIS is the message I hope reaches my readers, both young and old.

With a little imagination, and some good old fashioned hard work, there is nothing that we can’t accomplish.

Here are just a few of the themes presented in this extraordinary story:

*The importance of imaginative play

*Caring for our neighbors

*Taking responsibility for our actions

*Being brave and having courage

*Being proud of ourselves

Oh, and did I mention the glossary of extraordinary words?

*Language building

I hope you and your kiddos enjoy Jenny as much as I do. I believe she is a truly extraordinary person, probably just like you. Thank you for your time and interest, and please reach out with any questions or comments! Jenny and I would love to hear from you.
